Kogi Assembly Speaker, Imam Resigns, Mathew Kolawole Takes Over
Despite the fact that resignation from the position of power is alien to Nigerian politicians and could hardly be found in Nigeria’s political lexicons, Kogi House of Assembly elected a new speaker after the resignation of Umar Imam.
The new speaker, Mathew Kolawole, was announced on Wednesday, August 3, by the Deputy Speaker, Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa.
LateNightGist.com reported that the state House of Assembly was embroiled in crisis in last few months, recently some lawmakers were said to have escaped being lynched by suspected thugs as a result of the crisis.
It was also reported that members eulogised the ex-speaker for his leadership qualities.
