Explosion Rocks Maiduguri

Suspected Boko Haram bombers have detonated explosive devices at the Muna area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
The Cable, citing sources, reports that the bomb explosion occurred around 2.50pm on Wednesday, August 23.

Five policemen of the federal special anti-robbery squad were said to have suffered injuries following the bomb attack, according to a police source.
The bomb attack comes a day after President Muhammadu Buhari directed the service chiefs to tackle security threats posed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s secret army and Boko Haram insurgents.
President Buhari gave the directive on Tuesday, August 22, after a meeting with service chiefs in his office at his official residence, Channels TV reports.
The chief of defence staff, Abayomi Olonisakin, who spoke on the outcome of the meeting with the president said the meeting focused on security threats plaguing the country.
LateNightGist.com gathered that those in attendance include the Chief of Defence, Maj. Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibot-Ete Ibas.
