7 Dead As Boko Haram Strikes In Adamawa State

Reports just reaching us indicates that Boko Haram insurgents have killed seven people in Mildo community, Madagali local government area of Adamawa state.

LateNightGist.com gathered that the Boko Haram insurgents launched a night attack on Mildu village on Tuesday, August 1, leaving about 10 others injured.
Residents who were able to get away said the insurgents stormed the village, around 12 midnight and opened fire on sleeping residents, Premium Times reports.
They also burnt houses and shops during the attack.
A resident said in a telephone interview: “They stormed our village on motorbikes and immediately opened fire on the people and slaughtering people with knives.”
Another resident seeking anonymity for security reasons said: “As at the last count, seven people were killed while about 10 others were injured and rushed to a health facility in Gulak.”
The chairman of Madagali local government area, Muhammad Yusuf, confirmed the death of seven people, but said the total figure was uncertain.
He said: “You know I travelled to Yola and my deputy just confirmed to me that seven people were killed as houses and shops (were) burnt by the rampaging Boko Haram.’’.
The United States government said the inability of security agencies in Nigeria to share intelligence report because of animosity is affecting the success in the fight against Boko Haram.
Premium Times reports that this was contained in the Country Report on Terrorism 2016 published by the US Department of State’s Bureau for Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism.
It noted that the State Security Services (SSS) which is responsible for counter terrorism sometimes fail to share intelligence report with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) making it harder to investigate Boko Haram financing.
